I like this interpretation a lot. I think that it needs some work though with the cutting. I would like to see the blue shine through the figure a little bit better, I think that that would help to unify it a little better. You talked about how the background was bland and the figure wasn’t in your interpretation both seem to be pretty bland, it would be interesting to see maybe the opposite and have the background be vibrant. In your paper you also talked about how humans are important and superior and yet in your interpretation the human is nameless and faceless, this perplexes me, maybe you could give the figure more identity and make them be more important.
I had to think about this, your essay had me thinking.
We want it both ways, predestination at the hands of a God, and we want to be special in God's eyes, agents in charge of our own free will.
I think both are an excuse... for humans not to take responsibility for our actions.
The image in your collage, a puppet in the spotlight being pulled off the pedestal is powerful. Is there a reason the figure is female? Men have been "in charge" for some time.
Like Samanatha suggests I would refine the images, especially the edges of the spotlight and maybe add some obvious symbols of religion. Perhaps even the symbols of multiple religion, either in the light or scattered at the bottom of the pedastal.
The road or even the crossroads of human life where we make decisions along the way is also a subtle but thought provoking addition.
That human's face multiple decisions in their life time.
